Account Deletion

Last updated: July 30, 2026

You may request deletion of your Glide account and personal data at any time. This page explains how to make that request, what we delete, what US financial record-keeping law requires us to keep, and how long the process takes.

1. How to Request Deletion

Email hello@glide.co from the email address associated with your Glide account, using the subject line Account Deletion Request. Include the full legal name on the account so we can locate it.

Because a Glide Dollar Continuity Account is an identity-verified financial account, we must confirm that a deletion request genuinely comes from the account holder before acting on it. We may ask you for additional information to verify your identity before processing the request, and we may decline to act on a request we are unable to verify.

If your account still holds a balance, withdraw it before you request deletion, or tell us your preferred withdrawal method in your request. Any remaining balance is returned to you on closure, net of outstanding fees and pending transactions, as described in Section 11 of our Terms and Conditions.

2. What Happens When You Request Deletion

Once we have verified your request:

  • Your account is closed and your access to the Service is revoked.
  • Personal data that is not subject to a legal retention requirement is deleted from our systems.
  • We request deletion of your associated authentication and wallet data from Privy, our authentication and wallet infrastructure provider.
  • Data held by our regulated banking and payment partners — Bridge and Column N.A. — remains subject to their own regulatory record-keeping obligations, which typically require a five-year minimum retention and which we do not control.

Account closure is not reversible. If you want to use Glide again afterwards, you will need to open a new account and complete identity verification again.

3. Data We Are Required to Retain

Glide operates as a financial institution for Bank Secrecy Act purposes, and the BSA imposes a mandatory five-year retention period on financial records. This is a legal obligation that cannot be waived or shortened — not by us, and not by your request. It overrides deletion rights that would otherwise apply under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and comparable state, federal, and international data protection laws.

The following records are retained after your account is closed, even if you have requested deletion:

RecordRetention PeriodLegal Basis
KYC/CIP identification documentation5 years post-account closure31 CFR 1020.410
Transaction records5 years from transaction date31 CFR 1010.410
BSA records (SARs, CTRs, alerts)5 years from creation31 CFR 1010.430
Sanctions screening results5 years from screening dateOFAC compliance

Records covered by this override are retained solely to satisfy these compliance obligations. When the retention period expires, they are destroyed under Section 7 of our Data Retention Policy: cryptographic erasure followed by overwriting of the underlying storage, with a Certificate of Destruction generated for compliance-classified records.

If any part of your deletion request cannot be fulfilled because of these obligations, we will tell you which categories of data are affected and when they become eligible for destruction.

4. Timeline

We acknowledge and process account deletion requests within 30 days of receipt.

That window is consistent with the 30 calendar-day response period for data rights requests described in Section 14 of our KYC/AML & Privacy Policy, and with the 30 days' written notice for account closure described in Section 11 of our Terms and Conditions.

5. Full Policy Detail
