Chase routing number

Chase publishes a single routing number for domestic wire transfers into a Chase account: 021000021. The nine digits printed on your own check can be a different number, because the Federal Reserve’s ACH directory carries 51 routing numbers under JPMorgan Chase, spread across ten of the twelve Reserve districts.

Which Chase routing number do you need?

It depends on the payment, not the sender. Chase’s wire FAQ gives 021000021 for a domestic wire into any Chase account. For direct deposit and other ACH payments Chase publishes no table — it tells you to read the number off your own check or out of the app, because yours is not necessarily somebody else’s.

How to find your own Chase routing number

  1. Open the Chase Mobile app

Sign in, tap the tile for the account, then tap “Show details”. The dropdown shows your account and routing numbers.

  2. Or sign in at chase.com

Click your account name, then “Account & routing number”.

  3. Or read the bottom of a check

The first nine digits at the bottom left are the routing number, followed by the account number and the check number.

  4. Then check it against this directory

Every routing number the Fed lists for JPMorgan Chase has its own page here.

Why Chase has 51 routing numbers

Routing numbers are issued per Federal Reserve district, not per bank. The first two digits name the district — 01 Boston through 12 San Francisco — and the Fed keeps a parallel band for thrifts and credit unions: a leading 2 in districts 1 to 9, a leading 3 in districts 10 to 12.

Chase’s 51 numbers touch ten of the twelve districts; only Boston and Minneapolis are missing. Fifteen begin 02 (New York), eight begin 07 (Chicago), seven begin 11 (Dallas), and seven sit in the thrift band at 22, 26 and 32.

Wiring money into or out of a Chase account

From another US bank: your account number and 021000021. From abroad: your account number and CHASUS33. Chase adds that an incoming wire can take 24 hours to appear after it reaches the bank.

Cancellation is the sending bank’s call, so these Chase windows apply when you are the sender:

  • A same-day domestic wire cannot be canceled once sent.
  • A future-dated wire can be canceled until 11:59 PM ET the day before.
  • An international wire sent from a personal account can be canceled within 30 minutes of authorization, and on foreign-exchange wires Chase guarantees its rate for the same 30 minutes.

The two are not interchangeable. Chase: “SWIFT codes are required for international transfers, while routing numbers are used for domestic U.S. transactions.”

Chase discloses that its exchange rate “is determined by us in our sole discretion and includes a spread”, and that “you should expect that these foreign exchange rates will be less favorable than rates quoted online or in publications.”

ACH or wire: which should you ask for?

Chase’s business guidance splits them by urgency and by reversibility. ACH money is transferred “within three business days, and sometimes as fast as the next day” and “can be reversed, but only in cases of specific errors or fraud that meet defined guidelines”. A wire recipient “typically gets access to the funds that same day”, but “once submitted, it is unlikely to get your money back”.

  • Payroll, rent, anything recurring — ACH, with your account’s routing number.
  • A closing, a deposit, anything same-day and large — a wire, with 021000021.
  • Anything crossing a border — a wire with CHASUS33; Chase notes ACH cannot handle international transfers.

Chase routing number by state

Frequently asked questions

What is the Chase routing number?

For a domestic wire into any Chase account, Chase publishes 021000021. For direct deposit and other ACH payments there is no single answer: the Federal Reserve’s ACH directory carries 51 routing numbers under JPMorgan Chase, and the one that applies to you is shown in the Chase app under Show details, or printed at the bottom left of your checks.

Is the Chase routing number the same in every state?

For wires, effectively yes — Chase publishes 021000021 with no state qualification attached. For ACH it is not safe to assume so: Chase’s own routing-number page carries no state-by-state table, and tells you to take the number from your own account instead, which is the only source that is right by definition.

What is Chase’s SWIFT code?

CHASUS33. Chase’s wire FAQ lists it as the bank identification code (BIC) an overseas sender needs, alongside your account number. It is not a substitute for the routing number — Chase’s own guidance is that SWIFT codes are required for international transfers and routing numbers for domestic US transactions.

Does Chase charge to receive a wire transfer?

As published for 14 June 2026, an incoming domestic or international wire costs $15, or $0 if the sender originated it through chase.com, the Chase Mobile app, or with a Chase banker. Some accounts pay no Chase wire fee at all, including Chase Private Client Checking and Chase Premier Plus Checking with a qualifying military direct deposit.

Why does my Chase routing number show a Tampa, Florida address?

Because the Federal Reserve’s ACH directory records the operations site that receives ACH files for that number, not the branch where you opened your account. Most of Chase’s 51 entries are filed to Tampa; the others sit in Belleville, Michigan; Springfield, Illinois; Wilmington and Newark, Delaware; and Northridge, California.

How long does a wire into a Chase account take?

Chase says an incoming wire can take 24 hours to reflect in your account after it gets to Chase — that clock starts on arrival at the bank, not when the sender authorizes it. Chase’s own guidance adds that domestic wires are often processed within 24 hours, while international wire transfers can take between one and five business days.

Can I use a Chase routing number to send money abroad?

No. Routing numbers only work inside the US payment system; an international sender needs CHASUS33 and your account number. Chase’s fee schedule also notes that its exchange rate on a foreign-currency wire includes a spread, so compare the rate as well as the fee before choosing how to send.
