Chase SWIFT code

CHASUS33 is what Chase tells senders abroad to use, alongside your account number, and Chase says it does not use an IBAN. The nine-digit routing number does a different job: Chase publishes it for domestic incoming wires.

What is Chase’s SWIFT code?

CHASUS33. Chase’s own wire FAQ says: “When someone outside the U.S. wires money, give them your account number and our SWIFT code (CHASUS33).” Its published consumer instruction does not vary that code by branch or state.

SWIFT code or routing number: which does your wire need?

The test is where the money starts, not where it ends.

Chase issues no IBAN — “We don’t use an IBAN,” the FAQ says — so a European sender’s form asking for one has no answer beyond your plain account number. Chase’s list stops at two items; a branch address is not one of them.

Receiving an international wire at Chase

  1. Send the code and your account number

Chase’s list is short: CHASUS33 and your Chase account number. It names nothing else.

  2. Have the sender state a purpose

Chase lists a missing “statement of payment purpose for an international wire” among the reasons a wire is returned.

  3. Match the name exactly

A wire comes back when the “Recipient name provided doesn’t match recipient bank’s records” — use the name Chase holds.

  4. Allow a day after it lands

An incoming wire “can take 24 hours to reflect in your account after it gets to Chase”.

What Chase charges on an international wire

Chase publishes its wire pricing in the Additional Banking Services and Fees schedule, effective 14 June 2026.

Chase personal wire fees as published, effective 14 June 2026
WireFee
Incoming, domestic or international$15, or $0 if sent via a Chase banker, chase.com or Chase Mobile
Outgoing international in USD, online$40
Outgoing international in USD or foreign currency, with a banker$50
Outgoing international in foreign currency, online$5, or $0 at $5,000 USD or more
Outgoing domestic, online then with a banker$25 then $35

Chase discloses another part of the price: its foreign-currency exchange rate “includes a spread, which we may make a commission from”, and will be “less favorable than rates quoted online or in publications.”

Why less money arrived than was sent

Chase identifies more than one way deductions can occur. Its fee schedule says financial institutions may deduct processing fees or charges from incoming, outgoing and returned wires. Its wire FAQ names recipient-bank or intermediary-bank processing fees as one reason a returned wire can be smaller.

  • A returned wire can shrink twice: deducted charges on the way out, a different exchange rate on the way back. Chase lists both.
  • Chase’s own fee sits on top of those deductions. Chase Private Client Checking is the one personal account the schedule lists as paying no Chase fee on incoming or outgoing wires.
  • You do not control the path: Chase may “use any funds transfer system we believe reasonable… regardless of any instructions you might give us.”

The other Chase SWIFT codes, and when not to use them

This directory indexes 64 BICs against JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A., all filed at New York, NY; 39 carry a non-null department label. Forty-seven begin CHASUS33, and 46 of those add a three-character suffix: CHASUS33MAA is the private bank, CHASUS33FXR foreign exchange, CHASUS33MCY multicurrency. Twelve more begin CHASUSU3, and the record also holds MGTCUS3G, which drops the CHAS prefix. For a consumer incoming wire, Chase publishes CHASUS33; use another code only when the recipient or bank supplies it.

One caveat: this directory is built from a public BIC dataset, not SWIFT’s SWIFTRef product. Its note is blunt — “Always confirm codes with the recipient bank before sending.” Chase itself corroborates CHASUS33. The other 63 rest on the dataset alone.

Frequently asked questions

What is the SWIFT code for Chase Bank?

CHASUS33. Chase’s wire-transfer FAQ states: “When someone outside the U.S. wires money, give them your account number and our SWIFT code (CHASUS33).” The published consumer instruction does not vary it by branch or state.

Is Chase’s SWIFT code CHASUS33 or CHASUS33XXX?

Chase publishes the eight-character form, CHASUS33, and that is what to use first. Chase’s own guide notes a SWIFT code is “either eight or 11 characters”, and some sending banks’ forms only accept eleven; CHASUS33XXX resolves to the same JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. record in this directory. If a form rejects the eight-character code, use the eleven-character form and confirm it with the sending bank before authorising the payment.

Does Chase have an IBAN?

No. Chase’s wire FAQ says: “We don’t use an IBAN.” For an international incoming wire, the same FAQ tells the sender to use your Chase account number and CHASUS33. If a form insists on another field, ask the sending bank how it handles a bank that does not use IBAN.

Do I need Chase’s SWIFT code or its routing number?

It depends entirely on where the wire originates. Chase’s instruction: “To receive a domestic wire transfer, give the sender your account and Chase’s routing number (021000021). To receive an international wire transfer, give the sender our bank identification code (BIC) or SWIFT (CHASUS33) and your account number.” A wire sent from inside the US uses the nine-digit routing number; a wire sent from abroad uses CHASUS33.

How much does Chase charge to receive an international wire?

Chase’s fee schedule, effective 14 June 2026, lists a domestic or international incoming wire at “$15 per transfer OR $0 if the transfer was originally sent with the help of a Chase banker or using chase.com or Chase Mobile”. Chase Private Client Checking is listed as paying no Chase fee on incoming or outgoing wires. Fees change, so check the current schedule before relying on these.

Why did my international wire to Chase arrive short?

Chase lists several possible deductions. Its fee schedule says financial institutions may deduct processing fees or charges from incoming, outgoing and returned wires, and its FAQ names recipient-bank or intermediary-bank fees and a changed return-wire exchange rate. On a currency conversion, Chase also discloses that its exchange rate includes a spread from which it may make a commission.

How long does an incoming wire take to show up at Chase?

Chase says an incoming wire “can take 24 hours to reflect in your account after it gets to Chase” — which is measured from arrival, not from when the sender pressed send. If it has been longer, Chase’s advice is to confirm with the sender that it was actually sent, then call the bank.

Can every Chase account send an international wire?

No. Chase says most Chase checking accounts can send and receive wires, that a Chase Secure Banking account can receive wires but not send them, and that Chase First Banking accounts do not support wire transfers at all. Separately, on the Chase for Business side, Chase states that “Transfer requests that are initiated by 6:00 PM ET begin processing the same business day”, with later requests processed the next business day.

Sending money to Chase?

A correspondent wire picks up a fee at each bank it passes through, and most of its real cost is buried in the exchange rate. Conversions are quoted at the mid-market rate, with the cost charged as a visible fee rather than buried in the rate.
