IndusInd Bank IFSC code

Every IndusInd Bank branch has its own IFSC. Most codes use INDB0 followed by six digits, while a smaller group contains letters. One wrong character can stop the payment, so copy the beneficiary branch’s complete eleven-character code from a bank source.

How to find your IndusInd Bank IFSC code

Read it off a document; do not reason it out. IndusInd’s six digits carry no geography — INDB0000001 is in Mumbai, INDB0000002 in Pune — so branch name and city tell you nothing.

  1. Ask the account holder

The code in their IndusInd app or passbook maps to their account’s home branch, not the one they visit.

  2. Use IndusInd’s own Locate Us tool

The bank’s locator returns branches with an address and, where published, an IFSC.

  3. Cross-check against the RBI

The Reserve Bank publishes an IFSC and MICR directory searchable by bank name.

  4. Search the branch table below

Every code indexed here has a page with its branch and city, plus a MICR where one is published.

What the characters in an INDB0 code mean

The Reserve Bank’s definition: an IFSC “uniquely identifies a bank-branch participating in the NEFT system… It is a 11-digit code with the first 4 alpha characters representing the bank, and the last 6 characters representing the branch. The 5th character is 0 (zero).”

INDB
Bank code — identical on every IndusInd code
0
Always the digit zero, never the letter O
000001

Of the 2,301 IndusInd codes indexed here, 2,165 are INDB0 plus six digits, running from INDB0000001 to INDB0005018 with gaps. The leading zeros are part of the code, so a spreadsheet that trims INDB0000784 to INDB0784 has broken it.

Why some INDB0 codes name a different bank

The other 136 codes catch people out. Instead of six digits they carry a letter prefix and a serial, and the branch name attached belongs to somebody else. They fall into 26 prefix groups, and 109 of them name another institution outright — mostly urban co-operative banks in Karnataka, plus one labelled Doha Bank QSC.

INDB0STCBSree Thyagaraja Co-operative Urban Bank14
INDB0VCB0Sir M Visvesvaraya Co-operative Bank11

Read the branch label, not the INDB prefix. If it names a co-operative bank, that is where the account sits and the code is still the one to use — what you must not do is swap in an IndusInd branch of the same city.

When you need an IndusInd IFSC, and what it costs

Domestic transfers route on the beneficiary’s branch IFSC — the RBI lists “The IFSC number of the receiving branch” among the details you must give your bank for RTGS. Which rail a payment takes comes down to the amount.

Domestic rails into an IndusInd Bank account
RailAmountAvailability
NEFTNo minimum24x7x365, settled in batches
RTGS₹2,00,000 minimum, no upper ceiling24x7x365 since 14 December 2020

Cost rarely decides it. The RBI advised banks “to not levy any charges from their savings bank account holders for NEFT funds transfers initiated online with effect from January 01, 2020”. IndusInd agrees: as published August 2026, its online savings accounts pay nothing for NEFT or RTGS through net or mobile banking. At a branch counter NEFT is nil up to ₹50,000, then ₹4, ₹14 and ₹24 in bands above; RTGS is ₹20 from ₹2 lakh to ₹5 lakh and ₹45 over that, before GST.

Sending money to an IndusInd account from overseas

An IFSC will not bring money into India — it is a domestic routing code. A wire needs IndusInd’s SWIFT code, INDBINBBXXX; the sample instruction IndusInd publishes for overseas banks has no IFSC field at all.

  • INDBINBBXXX goes in field 57A, the beneficiary’s IndusInd account number in field 59, and the purpose of remittance in field 70 or 72.
  • IndusInd asks senders to mark charges “OUR” in field 71; its correspondent network numbers more than 250 banks.
  • Seventeen currencies are accepted, with a ₹50 foreign currency conversion charge, inclusive of service tax, deducted from the amount paid to the beneficiary.
  • Funding an FCNR deposit? Write “FCNR FD” as the purpose, or the money is converted to rupees on arrival.

IndusInd says payment is processed within 24 banking hours after the funds reach its account.

What to do when a transfer to IndusInd fails

A failed NEFT comes back. RBI rules require the destination bank to return a transaction it cannot credit “within two hours of completion of the batch in which the transaction was processed”. If nothing was credited and nothing returned, look at the instruction.

  1. 01Count the characters: an IFSC is exactly eleven, and INDB0 uses the digit zero, not the letter O.
  2. 02Restore leading zeros a spreadsheet stripped, and check the account number for the same damage.
  3. 03If the branch label names a co-operative bank, confirm with the beneficiary that it is really their bank.
  4. 04Nothing credited and nothing returned after the batch window? Quote the transaction reference to the sending bank.

Frequently asked questions

What is the IFSC code of IndusInd Bank?

There is no single code — every IndusInd branch has its own, and this directory indexes 2,301 of them. All begin INDB0. Most continue with six digits, so the Opera House branch at IndusInd House, 425 Dadasaheb Bhadkamkar Marg, Mumbai 400 004 is INDB0000001. Use the code printed on the beneficiary’s chequebook or shown in their IndusInd app, not one from another branch.

Is the IFSC code the same for all IndusInd Bank branches?

No. Only the first five characters, INDB0, are shared. The last six identify the branch and change with it: INDB0000001 is in Mumbai while INDB0000002 is in Pune, so neighbouring numbers are not neighbouring places. Use the beneficiary’s own branch code.

Why does an INDB0 code show a co-operative bank name?

Because 136 of the 2,301 INDB0 codes in this directory are not IndusInd branches. Instead of six digits they use a letter prefix and a serial — INDB0BCCB01, INDB0STCB01, INDB0VCB001 — and 109 of them carry a branch label naming another institution, mostly urban co-operative banks in Karnataka. One, INDB0DOHA01, is labelled Doha Bank QSC. Trust the branch label over the prefix when you are working out where an account actually sits.

What is the SWIFT code for IndusInd Bank?

IndusInd Bank publishes its SWIFT code as INDBINBBXXX on its NRI inward remittance page, where it appears in the sample instruction as the beneficiary bank in field 57A. It is not interchangeable with an IFSC: SWIFT identifies the bank across borders, the IFSC identifies a branch inside India, and IndusInd’s own sample wire instruction contains no IFSC field.

Does IndusInd Bank charge for NEFT and RTGS transfers?

Not through the app or net banking. IndusInd’s schedule of charges for its Indus Online Savings Account variants, published with effect from 1 August 2026, states that no charges apply for NEFT or RTGS done through net banking or mobile banking — consistent with the RBI telling banks not to levy such charges on savings accounts from 1 January 2020. Branch-initiated transfers are priced: NEFT is nil up to ₹50,000, then ₹4, ₹14 and ₹24 in bands above; RTGS is ₹20 from ₹2 lakh to ₹5 lakh and ₹45 above that. Fees are exclusive of GST and are as published in August 2026 — check the current schedule before relying on them.

How can I check an IndusInd IFSC code officially?

Two official routes. IndusInd’s own Locate Us finder returns branches with an address and, where published, an IFSC Code line. The Reserve Bank of India also publishes an IFSC and MICR directory searchable by bank name. The legacy indusind.com/in/en/personal/ifsc-code.html URL redirects to the bank’s error page.

Is the MICR code different from the IFSC code?

Yes. The MICR is the nine-digit number printed along the foot of a cheque; the IFSC is the eleven-character code NEFT and RTGS route on. The RBI publishes directories of both. In this dataset 2,293 of the 2,301 IndusInd codes carry a MICR; some of the eight without one are service codes, such as INDB0000098, labelled “Indusind Bank IMPS”.

Where is IndusInd Bank’s registered office?

IndusInd Bank Limited’s registered office is at 2401 Gen. Thimmayya Road (Cantonment), Pune 411 001, and its corporate identity number is L65191PN1994PLC076333, both as printed on the bank’s Contact Us page. That address is not a routing detail — a domestic transfer still needs the beneficiary’s own branch IFSC, and an inbound wire still needs INDBINBBXXX.
