Kotak Mahindra Bank IFSC code

Each Kotak Mahindra Bank branch has its own IFSC, with KKBK0 shared across the directory. Former ING Vysya codes require Kotak’s published mapping, and Kotak’s net/mobile transfer table has a nightly 11:30 p.m.–12:30 a.m. closed window.

How to find your Kotak Mahindra Bank IFSC code

Take the code from something the bank issued, not memory — Kotak re-coded every ING Vysya branch after 2015.

  1. Look at a cheque leaf

The RBI has advised every member bank to print the branch IFSC on its cheques.

  2. Ask for current beneficiary details

Have the account holder confirm the complete code from a current bank-issued record.

  3. Use Kotak’s Locate Us page

It searches by state and city or by PIN code, not by the code itself.

  4. Search the tables here

Every Kotak code indexed has a page with its branch, address and MICR.

What the characters in a KKBK0 code mean

The RBI calls the IFSC “an alpha-numeric code that uniquely identifies a bank-branch”: eleven characters — four for the bank, a zero, six for the branch.

KKBK
Bank code — identical on every Kotak code
0
Always the digit zero, never the letter O
000958
Branch — Mumbai Nariman Point, Mittal Court

Most records use numeric identifiers: 2,348 of 2,539 end in six digits, from 000131 to 009818. Of the 2,299 numeric-suffix records that also have a MICR, 2,297 use 485 in the middle — KKBK0000958 pairs with 400485002.

Do you still have an ING Vysya (VYSA) code?

Kotak’s milestones page dates the merger to 1 April 2015. Its published conversion table contains 586 distinct old VYSA codes and 577 distinct new KKBK codes — including VYSA0001010 becoming KKBK0008047.

Do not infer the new code from the old. Kotak’s replacements run from 001385 to 009529, right across the numbering — there is no ING Vysya block.

Why a Kotak transfer fails at 11:45 pm

This trap has nothing to do with your IFSC. The rails never close — NEFT runs 24x7x365, RTGS too since December 14, 2020. Kotak’s own windows do.

Kotak net and mobile banking NEFT windows (as published August 2026)
WindowWhat Kotak allows
12:30 am – 9:30 pmYour existing transfer limits apply
9:30 pm – 11:30 pmUp to ₹10,00,000
11:30 pm – 12:30 amNo transactions can be initiated

RTGS has its own blackout — Kotak lists it as available 24/7 “except 11.30 PM to 00:30 AM, due to cut-off” — and will not carry under ₹2,00,000 anyway. Between 12:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. Kotak caps NEFT at ₹50 lakh and RTGS at ₹5 crore. IMPS runs through all of it, addressed by account number and IFSC or by mobile and MMID.

What Kotak charges to send using an IFSC

Online, nothing. Kotak’s schedule for the Kotak Everyday Savings Account lists NEFT, RTGS and IMPS through net or mobile banking as nil. The RBI required that of every bank for online NEFT from a savings account “with effect from January 01, 2020”.

Branch-initiated transfers, Kotak Everyday Savings Account (as published August 2026, before GST)
Rail and amountBranch fee
NEFT up to ₹10,000₹2
NEFT ₹10,001 – ₹1,00,000₹4
NEFT ₹1,00,001 – ₹2,00,000₹14
NEFT above ₹2,00,000₹24
RTGS ₹2,00,000 – ₹5,00,000₹20
RTGS above ₹5,00,000₹40

Those are Kotak Everyday Savings Account figures, before GST, and may be revised. Check the schedule for the beneficiary account variant before relying on them.

Sending money to a Kotak account from overseas

An IFSC will not bring money into India; it is a domestic code. Kotak’s wire transfer page gives the one that will: “Kotak Mahindra Bank Swift Code: KKBKINBB.”

  • Beneficiary name and account number as held with Kotak, plus the purpose of the transfer.
  • Your own name, overseas account number, email and contact details inside the SWIFT message.
  • The fee instruction “Guaranteed OUR” or “Full Pay”, so intermediaries cannot deduct from the amount sent.

Kotak says it credits wires in one to two working days after sight of funds in its correspondent-bank nostro account, and says it charges no wire-transfer fee apart from GST on foreign-currency conversion. Confirm the exchange rate and any sending or intermediary charges before authorizing.

What to check when a Kotak transfer bounces

  1. 01Read the code aloud: KKBK0 uses the digit zero, never the letter O.
  2. 02If it begins VYSA, use Kotak’s published merger mapping and confirm the current KKBK code.
  3. 03Check the clock: between 11:30 pm and 12:30 am Kotak accepts nothing online.
  4. 04Check the floor: RTGS will not carry under ₹2,00,000. Use NEFT or IMPS.
  5. 05If money left and nothing arrived: the RBI requires the destination bank to return an uncreditable NEFT within two hours of its batch.

Frequently asked questions

What is the IFSC code of Kotak Mahindra Bank?

There is no single code — each branch has its own. Records here start KKBK0, followed by six characters identifying a branch or other banking record: KKBK0000958 is the Nariman Point branch at Mittal Court, Mumbai. Confirm the code from current bank-issued beneficiary details.

Is the Kotak IFSC code the same for all branches?

No. Only the first five characters, KKBK0, are shared. The last six vary by branch or record, and this directory indexes 2,539 distinct Kotak codes. Confirm all eleven characters before sending.

My IFSC starts with VYSA — what is my Kotak IFSC code now?

Look it up rather than guessing. ING Vysya Bank merged into Kotak Mahindra Bank effective 1 April 2015, and Kotak still publishes a table covering 586 distinct old VYSA codes and their replacements — VYSA0001010 became KKBK0008047. The 577 distinct successor codes span 001385 to 009529, so there is no dedicated prefix block to infer.

What is the SWIFT code for Kotak Mahindra Bank?

Kotak states it on its own wire transfer page as KKBKINBB. It is used for international wires into India and is not interchangeable with an IFSC: the SWIFT code identifies the bank across borders, while the IFSC identifies one branch inside India.

Why can’t I transfer money from my Kotak account at midnight?

Kotak publishes a net and mobile banking window from 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. during which “no transactions can be initiated”, and lists RTGS as available 24/7 except that window. Between 9:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. the table permits up to ₹10,00,000, subject to overall daily limits. IMPS is separately described as 24x7. After 12:30 a.m., check the status before retrying.

Does Kotak Mahindra Bank charge for NEFT and RTGS transfers?

Not online. Kotak’s published schedule for the Kotak Everyday Savings Account shows NEFT, RTGS and IMPS through net banking or mobile banking as nil — the RBI told banks not to levy online NEFT charges on savings accounts with effect from 1 January 2020. Doing the same transfer at a branch is charged: as published in August 2026, NEFT costs between ₹2 and ₹24 depending on amount, and RTGS ₹20 or ₹40, all before GST. Fees vary by account variant and change, so check Kotak’s current schedule.

Is the Kotak MICR code different from the IFSC code?

Yes. MICR is a separate nine-digit cheque-clearing code, while account-number transfers use the IFSC. Among 2,299 numeric-suffix Kotak records with a MICR here, 2,297 carry 485 as the middle three digits — KKBK0000958 pairs with 400485002. Kotak’s merger table lists both old/new IFSC and MICR values; use the mapped pair instead of assuming one from the other.

Can I use a Kotak IFSC code for an IMPS transfer?

Yes. Kotak documents two ways to address an IMPS payment: by account number and IFSC, or by mobile number and MMID. IMPS is available 24x7 including Sundays and bank holidays, which makes it the practical option during the late-night window when Kotak will not accept a NEFT or RTGS instruction.
